Atlanta YC is hosting a one-day Basic Race Management Seminar March 10, 2012.
The instructor is Senior Judge and Regional Race Officer Means Davis.
The cost is $30, there is some suggested homework to do in preparation, and it will prepare you to take the Club Race Officer's Certification exam. Details can be found on US Sailing web site calendar. Try this link, or just search the calendar for Race Management events to be held in the future. |

US SAILING Small Boat Sailing Level 1 Instructor Course is a 4-day,
40-hour course designed to provide sailing instructors with information
on how to teach more safely, effectively, and creatively. The goal of
the program is to produce highly qualified instructors, thereby reducing
risk exposure for sailing programs. Topics covered in the course
include: classroom and on-the-water teaching techniques, risk
management, safety issues, lesson planning, creative activities, ethical
concerns, and sports physiology and psychology. All
instructor candidates in this course will be sailing lightly used and
professionally maintained 2011 and 2012 420 and V15 boats supplied by
LaserPerformance North America. You must sign up through US Sailing:

* Buccaneer Yacht Club in Mobile, Alabama hosted twenty-four competitors including ones from the UK, France and Poland for the 2010 North American Finn Masters Championship held Nov 12-14. With warm, sunny skies and mild winds greeting the fleet, Rob Coutts - Russell's brother - led the standings each day but had only a slim two point lead after five races over Michael Mark going into the penultimate day. Coutts then won all three races on Sunday to win the championship over Mark and Peter Frissell, second and third respectively.-- Results:
